Instrumentation Fittings, Valves & Tubing for Power Generation & Nuclear
Power generation and nuclear instrumentation covers the small-bore fluid-system hardware that ties measurement and control instruments into a power plant's sampling, chemical-feed, feedwater, steam, instrument-air and hydraulic systems. That means tube fittings, needle, ball and check valves, valve manifolds, double-block-and-bleed and monoflange valves, regulators, thermowells, condensate pots, sampling systems and instrumentation tubing. Here, needle and ball valves are small-bore instrument valves, a manifold is a valve manifold, and a compression fitting is a stainless or alloy instrument fitting. None of this is plumbing hardware or main-line power valves, and it isn't the process vessels, turbines or line pipe themselves.
Crestflo manufactures stainless and nickel-alloy instrumentation fittings, valves, regulators and tubing built for US drop-in replacement. Orders run on a request-for-quote basis through a US sales contact based in Houston, TX. Standard items ship from ready stock; specials get made to order, and delivery takes 6–8 weeks. Also Known As: Power Plant, Nuclear, Fossil & Combined-Cycle Instrumentation
One scope, many names. Buyers and EPC contractors ask for power generation instrumentation, power plant instrumentation fittings, nuclear instrumentation fittings, power plant tube fittings, nuclear power plant tubing, and balance-of-plant (BOP) instrumentation. Valves get their own set of labels too: nuclear valves, power generation valves, nuclear power plant valves, instrument valves for power plants. Pull back further and the field goes by nuclear power plant instrumentation and control (I&C), or nuclear power components. Reactor and plant type shape the terminology. Nuclear plants bring in PWR (pressurized water reactor), BWR (boiling water reactor), and SMR (small modular reactor). Conventional plants stick to fossil, thermal, combined-cycle, and cogeneration. The quality vocabulary tied to these procurements deserves its own explanation: ASME Section III, ASME NQA-1, 10 CFR 50 Appendix B, 10 CFR 21, IEEE Class 1E, ASME B31.1 power piping, and ASME OM are all defined in the quality-and-scope section below.
Power Generation & Nuclear at a Glance: Sub-Sectors Served
Crestflo supplies instrumentation for the balance-of-plant and commercial-grade systems found in nearly every generating station. The table maps each sub-sector to its typical instrument systems and the service driver that dominates it. That way, the alloy and product family follow the actual service conditions rather than a label.
| Sub-sector | Typical instrument systems | Dominant service driver | Notes |
|---|---|---|---|
| Nuclear (balance-of-plant / commercial-grade MRO) | Secondary sampling, chemical feed, feedwater/condensate, instrument air, generator H₂ cooling | Chloride SCC, boric-acid chemistry, traceability | Commercial-grade / BOP scope, see quality section |
| Fossil / thermal | Steam & water sampling (SWAS), feedwater, steam tracing, DP/gauge hook-ups | High-temperature steam, condensate chemistry | 316/316L workhorse, nickel alloys for hot service |
| Combined-cycle | HRSG sampling, chemical dosing, instrument air, turbine hydraulics | Thermal cycling, water chemistry | Fast-start cycling favors robust ferrule seals |
| Cogeneration / SMR (emerging) | Sampling, chemical feed, instrument air, hook-ups | Water chemistry, compact packaging | Growing new-build demand for BOP instrument packages |
Crestflo can quote balance-of-plant and commercial-grade instrumentation for small modular reactor (SMR) new-build projects, an emerging demand driver. Safety-related scope falls under the qualification note in the quality section.

Material Selection for Power Service: 316L, Duplex, Super Duplex, Inconel & Monel
In power-plant procurement, the real wedge is matching the alloy to whatever's driving corrosion or heat, then matching tube and fitting hardness. Composition, PREN and mechanicals for each grade sit on their own material page; this hub just recommends and points you there. Think of the table as selection logic, not a stand-in for project-specific review.
| Corrosion / thermal driver | Recommended alloy(s) | Why | Material page |
|---|---|---|---|
| Chloride stress-corrosion cracking (cooling water) | Duplex 2205, super duplex 2507, 904L | Duplex microstructure resists chloride SCC that attacks austenitic grades | Duplex 2205 · Super Duplex 2507 |
| Boric-acid chemistry (PWR secondary/BOP) | 316/316L, high-nickel alloys | Molybdenum-bearing austenitic and nickel alloys handle borated water | 316/316L |
| High-temperature steam / turbine service | Inconel 625, Incoloy 800H | Nickel alloys retain strength and oxidation resistance at temperature | Inconel 625 · Incoloy 800H |
| Seawater / brackish cooling | Super duplex 2507, titanium Gr2, Monel 400 | Pitting and seawater resistance for condenser and cooling duty | Super Duplex 2507 · Titanium Gr2 · Monel 400 |
| General balance-of-plant | 304/304L, 316/316L | Cost-effective workhorse for clean water, air and steam hook-ups | 316/316L · 304/304L |
When amine, acid or otherwise aggressive chemistry comes into play, the alloy ladder moves through Alloy 20, Inconel 825 and Hastelloy C-276. Filter by service with the alloy selector; for the full logic behind it, check the material selection by service guide. Values follow the applicable standard. Customizable to requirement.

Quality, Traceability & Procurement Scope for Power & Nuclear Buyers
Every part carries its heat-number marking and ships standard with an EN 10204 3.1 material test certificate (3.2 if you need it). Compression tube fittings get performance-tested to ASTM F1387 for dimensional drop-in interchange. Isolation valves, including double-block-and-bleed types, are designed to ASME B16.34, and API valve-test bases get applied wherever the valve type calls for them.
Positive material identification (PMI), in-house NDT, and destructive testing are all available through ISO/IEC 17025-accredited laboratories, with third-party inspection on request. Crestflo holds ISO 9001, 14001, and 45001 certification, plus PED. Those certifications are stated here, and copies of the actual certificates sit on the traceability page.
Crestflo positions itself for commercial-grade and balance-of-plant power procurement. Nuclear safety-related qualification (ASME Section III / N-stamp, ASME NQA-1, 10 CFR 50 Appendix B, 10 CFR 21 defect reporting, and IEEE Class 1E) is laid out in the table below as the industry programs that govern safety-related scope. These aren't among Crestflo's held certifications, and commercial-grade dedication is carried out by the buyer or the dedicating entity. Anyone shopping for nuclear-grade tube fittings should know that Crestflo's scope is commercial-grade and balance-of-plant. Dedication to nuclear-grade, safety-related requirements is the buyer's job, or the dedicating entity's. If your scope is safety-related, say so on the RFQ. That confirms the right documentation package and material route before the order goes out.

Frequently Asked Questions
Are Crestflo fittings and valves nuclear qualified (ASME Section III, N-stamp or 1E)?
Crestflo holds ISO 9001 / 14001 / 45001 and PED, plus ASTM F1387 for compression fittings. Nuclear safety-related qualification is a different matter, though. ASME Section III / N-stamp, ASME NQA-1, 10 CFR 50 Appendix B, and IEEE Class 1E aren't among the certifications on file. That's why this offer targets commercial-grade and balance-of-plant procurement instead; commercial-grade dedication falls to the buyer or the dedicating entity. Spell out your safety-related scope on the RFQ, and the documentation route gets confirmed before the order goes through.
What quality documentation ships with power-plant orders?
Every part carries a heat-number mark and ships with an EN 10204 3.1 material test certificate as standard; 3.2 is available on request. Positive material identification (PMI), in-house NDT, and destructive testing at ISO/IEC 17025-accredited laboratories can all be arranged, and third-party inspection is available on request.
Which stainless or alloy should I use for power-plant instrument tubing?
316/316L handles the balance-of-plant work; it's the default choice for most everyday runs. When chloride stress-corrosion cracking becomes a real risk, step up to duplex 2205, super duplex 2507, or 904L. For high-temperature steam and turbine service, Inconel 625 or Incoloy 800H is the better fit. Composition and property details are on the linked material pages.
What do you supply for cooling-water or seawater condenser service?
Fittings and tubing made from 2507 super duplex or Titanium Gr2 hold up against chloride pitting and seawater attack. Monel 400 works too, but only for specific chemistries. Which alloy you pick comes down to the chloride level and the temperature of the cooling stream.
Can you interchange with Swagelok, Parker, Hoke, Hy-Lok or Fitok on our plant tube runs?
Crestflo compression tube fittings match Swagelok dimensionally and carry performance qualification to ASTM F1387. Swagelok®, Parker®, Hoke®, Hy-Lok® and Fitok® belong to their respective owners, and Crestflo has no affiliation with any of them. Ask our engineering team for a cross-reference and they'll point you to the equivalent Crestflo parts.
What is your lead time for a power-project BOM?
Ready stock covers standard items; specials get made to order, with delivery running 6–8 weeks against the 20-plus weeks you'll wait with the majors. Minimum order quantities stay small, and private-label supply is on the table. Send your BOM or print and we'll get you an RFQ.
Do you cover balance-of-plant systems such as SWAS, chemical feed, instrument air and steam tracing?
Tube fittings, needle, ball and check valves, 2/3/5-valve manifolds, root valves, condensate pots, syphons, snubbers, thermowells and instrumentation tubing for steam and water sampling, chemical feed, instrument air and steam tracing all fall within scope. Sampling, air and tracing systems each get their own dedicated hub with full details.
What valve types do you offer for power-plant instrument hook-ups?
The lineup covers needle, ball, check, bleed and gauge-root valves, plus 2/3/5-valve manifolds. Double-block-and-bleed and monoflange valves too, all built to ASME B16.34. Sizes span 1/16″ to 1″, imperial or metric, with ends that are either threaded or tube-fitting style.
Are the products made in the USA or TAA compliant?
Standard product is Indian-made and shipped on a US-serving basis. US or European melt is available on request, and full material traceability comes standard. TAA eligibility and country-of-origin details for federal power projects are laid out plainly on the US-origin compliance page.
Can you supply small modular reactor (SMR) or new-build instrument packages?
Crestflo can quote balance-of-plant and commercial-grade instrumentation packages for both SMR and conventional new-build work. How much falls under safety-related scope depends on the qualification position outlined above, so confirm your requirements on the RFQ.
