Buyers and specifiers use different names for these components, and which one sticks depends on the standard in play and the plant itself. The same parts turn up as sanitary tube fittings, hygienic fittings, high-purity fittings, pharma-grade or cGMP fittings, and biopharma or biopharmaceutical fittings. Valves aren't any simpler: you'll find high-purity valves, pharmaceutical valves, hygienic diaphragm valves (sometimes written as sanitary diaphragm valves), hygienic or sanitary ball valves, and packless bellows valves. Pharmaceutical Valves & Regulators: Diaphragm, Bellows & High-Purity Gas Control

For sterile, zero-dead-leg service, the top picks are packless diaphragm valves and bellows valves. Both remove the stem-packing leak path. They're sterilizable in place, too, and they give a hygienic loop the drainability it needs. Where a quarter-turn shutoff is acceptable, hygienic ball valves, needle valves and metering valves round out the instrumentation valve range. Utilities: WFI, Clean Steam & CIP/SIP Fittings and Valves

High-Purity Process Gas Fittings & Panels for N₂, O₂, CO₂ and Argon

Nitrogen, oxygen, carbon dioxide and argon panels built for high purity depend on metal face-seal connections and clean regulators. Skip either one and moisture or particulate finds its way into the stream. VCR face-seal fittings supply the leak-tight gasketed joint. High-purity regulators, meanwhile, hold delivery pressure steady across cylinder changeover. On request, helium leak testing and oxygen-service cleaning are available to spec for gas-panel components.

Surface Finish & Cleanliness: Electropolish, Passivation & Ra Targets

Two finishing operations dominate hygienic service. Passivation rebuilds the chromium-oxide passive layer through a chemical process. Electropolishing takes a different approach: it strips away a micro-layer of surface metal, which lowers roughness and makes the part easier to clean and drain. Crestflo offers both, plus material finish work. ASME BPE hygienic surfaces are typically specified at 20 µin (0.5 µm) Ra or better on electropolished internal diameters. State your Ra target and finish class on the RFQ, and the part gets built to that spec. Controlled or low delta-ferrite 316L for BPE weldability can be specified on the same basis. Values follow the applicable standard, and everything's customizable to what you need.
