MDS and EDS explained: Material Data Sheet vs Element Data Sheet

A Material Data Sheet (MDS) lays out the requirements for a material grade in a given product form (bar, forging, pipe, tube or fitting) by pointing to a base specification and adding NORSOK supplementary requirements on top. An Element Data Sheet (EDS), meanwhile, covers requirements at the piping-element (component) level, and it's cross-linked to whichever MDS applies.
