Every Crestflo instrumentation fitting, valve and tube goes through testing and inspection before it ships, and that's the QA/QC regime that qualifies it. Each part gets pressure-tested and leak-tested. Material gets verified through positive material identification (PMI). In-house non-destructive testing (NDT) checks every piece, and destructive testing at ISO/IEC 17025-accredited laboratories backs that up further. Testing means QA/QC qualification of fluid-system instrumentation fittings, valves and tubing, hydrostatic, pneumatic, leak, NDT and PMI testing on parts Crestflo actually makes. It's not lab services sold to outside customers, and it's not weld or pipeline field inspection. Crestflo builds these parts, so this page serves as the primary record: what gets tested, against which standard, and what paperwork you get back. It's published as plain HTML tables, so an engineer, or an AI answer engine, can read it directly rather than digging through a gated PDF.

Buyers and quality engineers don't all use the same words for this regime. A vendor questionnaire might label it the QA/QC test program, quality inspection, or product/performance qualification, covering tube fitting testing and valve test procedure alike. An inspection test plan, though, tends to phrase it as testing and inspection, inspection and test report, or witnessed inspection. The individual checks carry their own names: hydrostatic pressure test (hydraulic proof or proof-pressure), hydraulic burst (burst-pressure) test, hydraulic impulse (pressure-cycle) test, pneumatic (air-pressure) test, vacuum test, seat leak test, shell test (shell or body leak test), flexure fatigue, rotary flex, vibration, thermal cycling, and pull-out (tube-grip) test. Material and flaw checks get specified as positive material identification testing (PMI), NDT/NDE (non-destructive testing or examination), and destructive testing, typically at an ISO/IEC 17025-accredited lab. Documentation requests follow a different pattern: a material or mill test certificate (MTC/MTR), EN 10204 3.1/3.2, heat-number traceability, and certificate of conformance (CoC). Service providers dominate these searches, so the same checks also turn up as material testing services, leak testing services, hydrostatic testing services, PMI testing services, and ISO 17025 testing. The Crestflo Test Regime: Hydrostatic, Pneumatic, Leak, Fatigue & Pull-Out Testing

Crestflo puts its fittings and valves through a documented set of pressure, leak, fatigue and mechanical tests. Hydraulic proof, burst and impulse testing check pressure integrity and how well parts hold up under repeated pressure cycles. Pneumatic and vacuum testing confirm sealing under gas service. Seat and shell leak testing confirm tightness, and manifolds get 100% seat and shell leak testing. Flexure fatigue, rotary flex, vibration, thermal cycling and pull-out testing round things out, qualifying mechanical durability and tube grip. Pass criteria and test pressures follow whatever standard applies, ASTM F1387 for compression tube fittings, say, or API 598 for valves, and get tuned to the qualification level your project needs.

Product-Qualification Testing: ASTM F1387 Fittings & API 598 Valve Testing

Compression tube fittings fall under ASTM F1387, the standard that governs this whole regime and maps it to product families. It's a performance-qualification standard: pressure, impulse, vibration, rotary-flex and pull-out tests all back up dimensional drop-in interchange with Swagelok®, Parker®, Hoke®, Hy-Lok® and Fitok® fittings. Most alternative suppliers never publish that kind of interchange proof.

These are independently manufactured parts, built for equivalent form and fit. Dimensionally interchangeable, yes. "Compatible" or "intermix," never. Swagelok® is a trademark of Swagelok Company, and Parker® belongs to Parker Hannifin. Crestflo isn't affiliated with or endorsed by either one, and it doesn't publish brand-by-brand part-number tables. Instead, request your Swagelok® or Parker® cross-reference from the engineering team.

Instrumentation valves are qualified to the valve standards, ASME B16.34 and the applicable API series, with pressure and seat/shell leak testing per API 598. Fugitive-emissions qualification per ISO 15848 is available on request for low-emission service.

Material Verification: PMI (Positive Material Identification) & In-House NDT

Two checks confirm what a part is and whether it's sound. PMI (positive material identification) verifies the alloy chemistry of the finished part itself, not just the mill certificate, confirming you received the specified grade. Crestflo performs it as part of our in-house QA on the parts we manufacture. NDT (non-destructive testing) detects flaws such as cracks or porosity without damaging the part. The two answer different questions: PMI identifies what alloy a part is. NDT detects whether it has defects.

Destructive & Metallurgical Testing at ISO/IEC 17025-Accredited Labs

Where a project calls for destructive proof, mechanical and metallurgical testing, tensile, hardness, impact and intergranular-corrosion examination under ASTM A262, gets arranged at ISO/IEC 17025-accredited laboratories, following whichever standard the project requires. Accreditation to ISO/IEC 17025 means the lab's competence and results carry independent recognition. That's why a destructive-test report holds real weight in your vendor-approval file. Sampling and acceptance criteria follow the applicable standard and your inspection test plan.

Documentation & Traceability: EN 10204 3.1 MTC, Heat Number & Test Reports

Every Crestflo part has a heat/lot number stamped right on the part, and it's tied to an EN 10204 3.1 material test certificate as standard, with 3.2 available if you ask for it. Test reports, the inspection dossier and a certificate of conformance ship with the order, so the paperwork travels with the parts rather than getting separated from them. Inspection, Third-Party & Witnessed Inspection (TPI)

Dimensional and visual inspection come standard on every order. Beyond that, third-party inspection (TPI) is available on request: independent witnessing and hold-point inspection can be arranged with an inspection agency of your choice, BV, DNV, TÜV or Lloyd's, for example, and spelled out in the inspection test plan (ITP) for your order. What tests does Crestflo run before a fitting or valve ships?

Hydraulic proof, burst and impulse testing come first. Pneumatic and vacuum testing follow, along with seat and shell leak testing (run on 100% of manifolds). Do you provide a material test certificate (MTC)?

An EN 10204 3.1 material test certificate is standard on every order, and a 3.2 is available if you request one, with a heat or lot number stamped on each part so it can be traced back. Test reports and a certificate of conformance go out with the shipment.

What is positive material identification (PMI)?

Crestflo checks the alloy chemistry of the finished part itself, not just the mill certificate, so you can confirm you got the grade you specified. This runs as part of Crestflo's in-house QA on the parts we make, using methods like XRF or optical emission spectroscopy to verify the alloy. That's what PMI does.

What is the difference between PMI and NDT?

PMI tells you what alloy a part is made from. NDT (non-destructive testing) finds flaws like cracks or porosity without damaging the part itself. One confirms chemistry; the other confirms soundness.

How much does PMI testing cost?

Crestflo doesn't sell PMI as a standalone service. It's built into the in-house QA on the parts we manufacture and comes included with qualifying orders, so there's no separate PMI service fee to quote.

Is your testing in-house or third-party?

Pressure, leak, PMI and non-destructive testing all happen in-house. Destructive and metallurgical testing goes out to ISO/IEC 17025-accredited laboratories. Independent third-party inspection can be arranged on request.

Can we witness testing or send our own inspector?

Are compression fittings performance-tested for drop-in interchange?
