What Is an Instrumentation Needle Valve?

A needle valve relies on a slender, tapered stem that seats into a matched orifice, giving fine, repeatable throttling and positive shut-off on small-bore instrument lines. Needle Valve vs Ball Valve for Alaska Instrument Service

For hot-acid and chloride leach circuits, go with Hastelloy C-276 or C-22, Alloy 20, and Duplex 2205 or 2507 or 904L. Where chloride dominates, use 254 SMO or AL-6XN instead. These show up as needle valves and manifolds, each one heat-number marked and traceable.
