  • SAE dash size (or DIN L/S metric series), the nominal tube OD and end sizing. On the JIC 37° line that means matching the tube size to its UNF thread: a 1/4" JIC (−04), a 3/8" JIC on a 9/16-18 thread (−06), a 1/2" JIC on 3/4-16 (−08), then 7/8-14 (−10) and 1-1/16-12 (−12), and so on through the range.
  • Thread form, UN/UNF straight thread for JIC and ORB, NPT/NPTF taper for pipe ends, BSPP parallel, or the metric thread of the DIN 2353 nut.
  • Seat or cone angle, 37° for JIC (SAE J514 / ISO 8434-2), 45° for SAE flare, and the 24° cone of DIN 2353 bite-type (ISO 8434-1).

Brennan JIC 37° flare interchange (SAE J514 / ISO 8434-2)

The 37° JIC flare is the highest-overlap family. Crestflo manufactures 37° flare fittings per ISO 8434-2 with SAE J514 thread and seat geometry, up to 2" (50 mm) OD and working pressures up to 15,000 PSI and temperatures up to 350 °C (values per applicable standard; customizable to requirement), in stainless and the full alloy range. ORFS & O-ring face seal: an honest out-of-scope note

Brennan's O-ring face-seal (ORFS, SAE J1453 / ISO 8434-3) hydraulic line is not currently part of Crestflo's US instrumentation architecture, so it is out of scope for this interchange unless separately confirmed on your RFQ. Note a common point of confusion: Crestflo's metal face-seal fittings are VCR/VCO instrumentation face seals, a different, metal-gasket sealing family, not hydraulic ORFS. If you run Brennan ORFS, tell us the application and we will advise whether a JIC, ORB, or metal face-seal path fits; we will not represent an equivalent we do not build.

Brennan Equivalents in Stainless AND Exotic Alloys (316L, Super Duplex, Inconel, Hastelloy)

Interchange vs. intermix: the honest engineering note

Every specifying engineer should ask this, and the honest answer earns trust:

  • Interchange (correct): replace a complete Brennan fitting with a complete Crestflo fitting at the same location, body, nut, and ferrule are all Crestflo. This is what "Brennan equivalent" and "drop-in interchange" mean here.
