JIC and ORB vs NPT and BSPP: Straight vs Tapered Threads

JIC and ORB are both straight-thread connections, and that's what separates them from NPT. NPT is a tapered pipe thread that seals on the thread flanks with a sealant. So even when the callouts look alike, an NPT thread and an ORB thread aren't the same thing and won't interchange. ORB isn't the same as BSPP either.
