What is landed cost?

Landed cost is the total price of getting a part from the supplier's dock to yours, every dollar spent to land the goods, not just the unit price. The landed cost formula

Here is how to calculate landed cost, the math is deliberately transparent: add the core expenses, then divide by units:

Total Landed Cost = Product + Origin Charges + Freight + Insurance + Duty/Tariff + Fees (MPF · HMF · broker) + Inland/Handling

Landed Cost per Unit = Total Landed Cost ÷ Sellable Units

Duties & tariffs on fittings and valves: HTS 7307 & 8481

Duty comes down to your HTS rate times the customs (CIF) value, plus whatever Section 301 (China-origin) or Section 232 (steel) add-on applies, plus the CBP MPF/HMF fees. Classification sets the base rate. FOB vs CIF vs DDP: Incoterms and who pays which line

Under EXW you're on the hook for nearly everything from the seller's door. FOB shifts origin costs and loading to the seller, leaving you to cover freight from there. CFR adds freight to the seller's side, but not insurance. CIF goes further still, folding in both freight and insurance to the port, and that CIF value for duty is the base your duty rate gets applied to. DDP is the simplest of the lot: the seller delivers duty-paid straight to your dock, one number, everything included.
